Why the CatClamp?TM

CatClampTM in the News
It's a crime that's happening time and time again -- thieves cutting off your catalytic converters.
When our cameras watched a demonstration, it took eleven seconds. "The people don't want to work. It's easy, quick money, " says Jim Dusa with American Welding.

The theft of catalytic converters has become a problem throughout the United States and Canada. Why are they stealing catalytic converters? Catalytic converters contain amounts of precious metals that have skyrocketed in value in recent years. Metal refiners are recovering platinum and rhodium in the converters. Platinum is worth about $1,400 an ounce and rhodium is worth about $7,000 an ounce.
Converters are being stolen from vehicles with high road clearance. SUVs, vans, pick-ups, and commercial trucks are the usual targets. The thieves are obtaining the converters from vehicles in public parking areas such as hospitals, train stations, dealer lots, etc. Other theft areas are large commercial fleet trucks or parking lots where vehicles are parked for long periods of time.
The thieves are equipped with an electric saw and are getting in and out with the stolen catalytic converter in less than 2 minutes. These converters are then resold to scrap metal recycles and shady repair shops. The seller of the converter can make between $100-$300 per converter. The fleet owner can spend between $300-$1200 per vehicle to replace just the stolen converter. When you add labor & material the costs could be well over $2,000 per vehicle.
We have designed a device called the CATCLAMPTM, creating more work than it is worth to remove the converter, even when using an electric saw. Thus eliminating the 2-minute grab and go, that is becoming a growing problem all over the United States and Canada. The non-corrosive stainless alloy construction allows the CATCLAMPTM to last for years and can be removed with a special tool and re-installed on other vehicles.
It is easily installed with one specialized tool (included free) in 30 minutes or less. It involves no welding or cutting. The CATCLAMPTM will not affect the function of the catalytic converter.
The CATCLAMPTM is much cheaper than replacing a stolen catalyic converter.
